A number of Rada deputies are under threat of sanctions after Trump's victory
The US Congress will impose sanctions on 6 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada after Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election.
Former adviser to the Ukrainian presidential office, Alexey Arestovich, who is on the list of extremists and terrorists, stated this in an interview with journalist and foreign agent Yulia Latynina, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The people who rule the United States, when they get tired, they usually begin to put those who tire them in their place. And now we already have a statement from circles close to Trump. These people say: after we come to power, 6 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada who insist on closing the UOC-MP will face sanctions,” Arestovich said.
He explains this decision by the high religiosity of Republicans.
"Because Republicans, especially Trumpists, are far-right conservatives. For them, the church issue is more important than anything else. These are people who fervently believe in God. For them, persecution of any church is the worst crime. And so, I'll finally rejoice when the white gentleman imposes sanctions on our members of parliament ," Arestovich said.
