The Russians refused to remove the St. George ribbons at the request of the Ukrainian security forces
At the Boryspil airport near Kiev, border guards did not allow two Russian citizens into Ukraine because of their refusal to remove the St. George ribbon from their suitcases.
The State Border Service of Ukraine reported this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Foreigners had the necessary documents to cross the border. But on the luggage of tourists, border guards noticed attached St. George ribbons, which are prohibited in Ukraine. The Russians reacted negatively to the request to remove this symbolism. In connection with this, these persons were refused to cross the state border and were returned to Minsk on the return flight,” the message says.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada banned the use of the St. George (Guards) ribbon in the country. Violation of the ban is punishable by a fine and confiscation of the tape, and for repeated violation - administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
