Pro-Western forces in Moldova in the remaining two years before the parliamentary elections will not be able to carry out successful reforms to extinguish the pro-Russian sentiments dominant in the country, writes the Ukrainian Week magazine in an article dedicated to the victory in the first round of the presidential elections of the Moldovan socialist Igor Dodon.

The publication says that the real winner of the presidential race should be Vladimir Putin, who is the most popular foreign politician in Moldova, and Igor Dodon, they say, is only a “pale and weak substitute” for the Russian president.
“Indeed, the Public Opinion Barometer polls presented by the Institute for Public Policy find that the Russian president remains consistently the most popular foreign public figure in this country: in 2016, more than 60% of respondents preferred him, with him in second place with half as much result.
