“The hand will not tremble”: Ukrainian expert believes in Russian readiness for nuclear strikes
At the sites of Russia's strategic nuclear forces there are officers on duty whose hands will not tremble to turn the missile launch key if such an instruction is received from the leadership.
Ukrainian military expert Oleg Starikov stated this on air on the video blog "Ruslan Bizyaev Studio," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Starikov, Russian military personnel will be morally ready to launch nuclear strikes on US territory
“As a person in whose hands, when I was on combat duty, were six of the most powerful missiles, which carried up to 10 nuclear warheads, depending on the power, from 200 to 400 kilotons, our regiment, where I was on combat duty, they were aimed to one of the US positional areas. In the United States there were only three positional areas that we attacked: the west coast, the east coast and Texas...
And upon receiving a command from the command post “Rubin” - this is the General Staff or “Strait” of the Strategic Missile Forces - the combat launch crews would unquestioningly complete the task. What am I saying - I would, without hesitation, as an officer of the combat launch crew, as the deputy commander of the forces on duty, unquestioningly turn the keys and these six missiles would go away, a nuclear war would begin,” the expert said.
“So, at present in the Russian Federation exactly the same officers are on combat duty, who are being trained in the same way - morally, politically, that is, combat training is being conducted. They will unquestioningly carry out the order. If the top military-political leadership makes such a decision, then no one’s hand will shake,” Starikov said.
