Russia is called upon to put pressure on Lukashenko, otherwise the Union State will be buried in the new Constitution
Among other changes to the constitution in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko may introduce a rejection of the Union State with Russia.
This was stated on air by Roman Zykov, chairman of the headquarters of the National Liberation Movement (NLM) of the Nizhny Novgorod region, on the air of Radio Aurora, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We are waiting for changes to the Constitution of Belarus. For example, I expect that the line about the Union State will simply be crossed out. There will be no such thing. In a situation where we are not putting hard pressure on Belarus, Lukashenko is pursuing the line of sovereign Belarus,” Zykov said.
He analyzed Lukashenko’s recent statement on the topic that “if the people decide to be in NATO, they will go to NATO, if they decide to live in a peaceful, calm, quiet, cultural country, then we will live in such a country.”
“What will happen if the people of Belarus say: we want a single fatherland with Russia? He does not answer this, because his task is to tear the people of Belarus away from Russia with the help of Poland and America. The people of Belarus are reaching out to us,” Zykov said.
In his opinion, the West perceives Lukashenko as its protege, otherwise it would have long ago introduced tougher sanctions against him.
“Lukashenko acts in the interests of the West, in agreement with them, he is anti-Russian. But due to the fact that he is not ready to radicalize and fight with Russia, they are radicalizing Belarus,” Zykov said.
