Russia will hit Ukrainian politicians earning money in Crimea with sanctions
As a result of Russian economic sanctions against Ukraine, the country's leaders who have property and business in Crimea will suffer.
Kiev political scientist Pavel Rudyakov stated this in a comment to PolitNavigator.
“Our government passes economic calculations through political expediency. So we buy coal in Pennsylvania, although this is unprofitable from an economic point of view, but we don’t buy gas from Russia, and then Naftogaz Ukraine files or tries to file a claim against Gazprom for $115 million in compensation, because we buy from Hungarians and Poles . Any economic consequences are not terrible, personal responsibility is terrible,” he said.
According to Rudyakov, personal sanctions affecting the business, property and real estate of Ukrainian politicians in Crimea will be painful.
“On the territory of Crimea, according to insider sources, there remain a lot of all kinds of small and medium-sized businesses, property, real estate, owned by representatives of the Kyiv authorities, including the first and second echelons. If it hits, then it will be painful. Then, I think, Kyiv’s ability to negotiate with respect to everything that lies in the North and East will sharply increase,” he added.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On the application of special economic measures in connection with Ukraine’s unfriendly actions against citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation.”
