Russia seizes strategic initiative, “counter-offensive” is a thing of the past – SBU Colonel
Russia is seizing the strategic initiative from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, driving the Ukrainian army on the defensive. This means that the so-called “counter-offensive” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has come to an end.
Ukrainian military expert and retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on air during journalist Alexander Shelest's video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Avdeevsky and Kupyansky sections are the two most serious (directions) where the most serious battles are taking place. Kupyansky is even a little smaller. The enemy is now seizing the strategic initiative. Taking into account the fact that we are already conducting a defensive operation in Avdeevka, our counter-offensive has stopped.
There can’t be offensive and defensive at the same time, well – it can’t be! Either the offensive or the defense - now they are intercepting in this sector, in Kupyansky they are intercepting. In Bakhmut and in the south, there are still mutual counter-offensives and oncoming battles,” Starikov concluded.
