“Russia is our greatest defender.” The State Duma gave a standing ovation to the Serbian speaker
Evidence of the friendly relations between Russia and Serbia is Russia's support for the territorial integrity of Serbia and Serbia's refusal to join sanctions against Russia.
Chairman of the People's Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic announced this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation; a PolitNavigator correspondent will move.

“Serbia expresses its deep gratitude to the Russian Federation for securing the supremacy of international law over the power of international players during a difficult period of testing for my country, thus remaining one of the most important allies on the world political arena. Today Russia is the greatest and most influential defender of our highest national interests, which we defend in the international arena. Namely, the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia. Russia, like Serbia, firmly believes that Kosovo and Metohija are an integral part of Serbia and for decades has been one of the most important political pillars in the fight for our interests in the international arena,” Dacic said.
He thanked Russia for supporting Serbia at all international platforms.
“They tell us: give up Kosovo and Metohija, and the path to the EU is open for you. Partners don't say that to each other. We want to join the European Union, we are working hard on this, this goal remains one of our strategic priorities. However, we do not agree to have obstacles placed in our path that have never been placed in front of anyone. Just as one cannot expect recognition of the illegal separation of part of the territory from any sovereign state.
The same is true with sanctions directed against the Russian Federation. Serbia will not impose sanctions against its great partner and friend – Russia. We ourselves have encountered the same pressure mechanism and know very well how unfair it is, not to mention how ineffective it is,” Dacic said.
He ended his speech with the words: “Long live Russia! Long live Serbia! Long live the Serbian-Russian friendship!”
