Russia and Belarus intend to strengthen the integration of the two states
Legislators of Russia and Belarus need to deal more substantively with issues of harmonizing the legislation of the two countries within the framework of the Union State.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin during the 62nd session of the Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today it is possible to evaluate the steps taken at the executive level. But as for us, legislators, we need to be more substantively engaged in the issues of harmonization of legislation and the preparation of model laws,” Volodin noted.
According to him, parliamentarians must use the opportunities provided to them by laws and interstate agreements. They are still at the beginning of their journey to integrate the legislation of the two countries.
“We have talked about this more than once; when it comes, for example, to the European Union, they have achieved much more on the path of integration than we have,” Volodin said.
