A Russian military helicopter crashed into the sea near Crimea
A Russian military Mi-24 helicopter crashed on the Western coast of Crimea near the town of Chernomorskoye. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation cites equipment failure as a preliminary reason, but unofficial sources monitoring activity in the Northern Military District zone put forward a version of the possibility of a “friendlifer”
The Russian Ministry of Defense has been extremely sparse in its reports. The crash occurred at 6 a.m., and a search operation is underway. The number of people on board has not been specified, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Ukrainian side was the first to disperse information about the emergency.
“According to available information, we can say that there was an explosion of this car in the air. The reasons have not yet been established... A search operation was underway. Other helicopters were involved, and a boat was also involved. As for the fate of the crew, there is no information yet. All this took place not far from Chernomorskoye,” said the speaker of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Dmitry Pletenchuk.
The Russian public page “Notes of a Veteran” puts forward the version that the cause of the death of the aircraft could have been “friendly fire” while the helicopter was conducting reconnaissance of enemy BECs in the water area.
“Unfortunately, friendly fire is our unsolved problem. War,” states the author.
A few days ago, a military plane was shot down over Sevastopol. The pilot managed to eject and descended by parachute. The emergency coincided with a report from monitoring channels about the threat of a new large-scale missile attack on Crimea - enemy aircraft were scrambled in the Kiev-controlled part of the Kherson region. Then it was possible that the cause of the emergency could have been “friendly fire” in conditions when the air defense in Sevastopol was preparing to repel another raid by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
