In 2014, Russia was preparing an entire special operation to return fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych to Kyiv by air. Ex-head of the SBU Valentin Nalyvaichenko, who nominated himself for the post of President of Ukraine, spoke about this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"From the first days after I returned to the SBU, we defended Kyiv because every morning we received reports from Ukrainian intelligence that Russian troops had been loaded onto military aircraft at 5 a.m. and were planning to land in Zhulyany, Uzyn, and Boryspil. I'm personally responsible for giving the orders, and a small Alpha group, which had already undergone interrogations ( for professional suitability after the Maidan – ed. ), advanced with weapons and grenade launchers to the airport runways to block and prevent the Russian military landings. This is just one of the defensive operations.
