After the National Guard (the legalized part of the Right Sector) killed three defenders of the Donetsk Republic at a checkpoint in Slavyansk on Easter night, the question of who will lay down their arms first simply does not arise. At least in the regional administration of Donetsk.
“I visited there immediately after the news of the treacherous attack near Slavyansk,” writes the RG reporter. “The regional council is surrounded on all sides by sandbags and old tires. In the corner, two “bartenders” are preparing “Molotov cocktails.” They yell at me as soon as I take out my soapbox. Even though in Ukraine it is forbidden to smoke indoors, they pull cigarettes one by one. The entire administrative building has been turned into a network of labyrinths. Iron sheets and doors are welded. The floors are littered with furniture. In the offices there are traces of the hasty retreat of officials. I remember the right female ankle boot on the red carpet. The elevator doesn't work, and when I meet the commander of one of the units, nicknamed Groom, my legs are buzzing. “And they want us to lay down our arms first? - Groom shouts in my face. -Where are the weapons? We are simply suffocating without weapons! Give us weapons! We don't want to die unarmed!"
According to the newspaper, the rebels do not even have their own transport: they went to take control of the Donetsk airport wearing masks on a public bus, obediently punching tickets. As a result, the “invaders” discussed with the head of the airport the scandalous ban on the entry of Russian citizens from 16 to 60 years of age. He sent them to the border guards, but they never came out; as a result, the rebels left with nothing, although news agencies in Kyiv trumpeted that the airport had been captured by the separatists.
