“Revolution in military affairs”: the Russian Armed Forces are making serious progress in the Avdeevsky direction - Ukrainian colonel
Near Avdeevka, the Russian army has changed tactics and is systematically conducting an operation to encircle the city.
Ukrainian military analyst and former SBU colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on the air of the video blog "Yes, That's True," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“If we look at the Avdeevsky fortified area, the situation there is the most difficult along the entire line of combat contact. Secondly, the enemy is systematically conducting a semi-encirclement operation,” Starikov said.
He believes that the RF Armed Forces have two tasks - minimum and maximum.
“The first task is to take a semicircle with pincers from the north and south, blocking the logistics route for our garrison. The maximum task is to take it into the ring, that is, to make another cauldron,” the colonel added.
According to him, the road to the city is not yet very tightly under fire control and “you can still get through there.”
“But if they walk a few more kilometers, in the north there is a waste heap, in the south there are dachas, there are eight kilometers between them in a straight line... A couple more kilometers - and what I was talking about will happen.
In order to unlock - our plans are to prevent them from organizing the ring - they are increasingly enlarging the claw. In the North, they approached Stepovoy from the west and occupied some kind of country post-lock. There is serious progress there. How serious? Everything is relative. The neck itself before the start of the offensive was 12 kilometers, now there are 8 left,” says the expert.
He added that Russian units have begun attempting to attack the Avdeevka coking plant.
“The enemy has let down a very serious resource - up to an army of personnel, this is 50 or 60 thousand with military equipment, artillery, aviation. And the offensive is carried out competently. At first, when we went along the northern front in a classic offensive, we were defeated - down to a battalion. After that, they rolled back, changed tactics and began to march in small assault groups, like we did in Rabotino. They crash and are fixed,” says Starikov.
He added that the Russian Armed Forces began to control the road “not only with artillery, but also with drones” - there is always a reconnaissance drone next to the attack drone.
“We are running out of resources. Some [UAVs] landed, others were lifted. Everything is very serious there. Now a decision will have to be made. Transfer more operational reserves there, removing them from other areas, for example, from the Orekhovsky or Ugledarsky direction. This is very important for the enemy, because he is advancing slowly so that we transfer reserves and expose areas.
And this is not the only direction where they are conducting very serious offensive actions. There are Kupyanskoe and Limanskoe directions. They go slowly. The Russian-Ukrainian war will be named in future sources as the war that revolutionized military affairs. The stereotype of World War II and NATO doctrine, when they fought weak opponents with the help of high-precision weapons, is completely broken,” Starikov reasoned.
