During the Russian Spring in Crimea, the group of Russian troops was half as large as was allowed under the Kharkov agreements. At the same time, the Ukrainian army, contrary to Kyiv’s propaganda theses, was well armed and trained, and also had a numerical advantage.
Russian military observer and writer Viktor Baranets, who is preparing to publish a book about the events of five years ago, spoke about this on the NewsFront internet channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Earlier, former Ukrainian Defense Minister and nationalist Igor Tenyukh stated that accusations of Crimea's surrender without a fight were unfair – Kyiv gave orders to open fire on participants in the Russian Spring , but there were no Ukrainian troops on the peninsula willing to initiate bloodshed.
