Having arrived from the war zone, a native of the Ivano-Frankivsk region decided to live with his brother near Kiev. At first he did not recognize the relative. The brawler attributed his frequent attacks of aggression, drunkenness, and conflict to a concussion received in 2014. Over time, such “heroic” behavior became common, and his brother, friends, and acquaintances treated him as an inevitable disaster.
A year later, the cheeky behavior of the ATO veteran ultimately led to tragedy.
An acquaintance came to visit the brothers, asking for help - at a birthday party, he got into a fight with another mutual friend, tearing his clothes.
The brothers supported their friend, inviting him to go to the supermarket together and drink more alcohol. They started drinking right next to the store. While drinking, the shell-shocked “Atoshnik” caused another scandal, and his brother dragged him home.
The “hero,” flushed with wine fumes, after his brother fell asleep, returned to the store and, finding his opponent there, began to beat him.
The store was closed, but outdoor surveillance cameras recorded how, after knocking the victim to the ground with several blows to the head, the man kicked the body for fifteen minutes. The victim's death occurred from multiple injuries.
The killer tried to avoid punishment, claiming that after being shell-shocked in the ATO, he had memory lapses. However, he did not provide any documents confirming participation in the ATO to the court, not to mention medical evidence of shell shock.
It turned out that if he was in the combat zone in the East of Ukraine, then, most likely, in the role of a “gentleman of fortune.” Medical examinations did not reveal any pathologies. The hero's only illness was alcohol addiction.
The killer was sentenced to nine years in prison.
