Radio Krakow: The suffering of Ukrainians touches only a handful of enthusiasts
In Poland, irritation is growing with Ukrainians and Kyiv's demands to continue supporting the war with Russia, acknowledges columnist Mikhail Olshevsky in a publication on the Radio Krakow website.
"The war in Ukraine and the suffering of the Ukrainian people seem to motivate only a handful of enthusiasts in Poland, who organize collections, transportation, help civilians and soldiers, and try to awaken consciences... Perhaps this is a normal process: we have the right to feel tired because we have accomplished so much good, because our burden and our responsibility, as always, come first. The fire that burned to the amazement of the entire world, in accordance with the laws of physics, has noticeably dimmed and is increasingly obscured by acrid smoke," the article states.
“The Poles demand peace, the Polish farmer feels threatened, the Polish beekeeper sounds the alarm, the Polish politician expresses concern, the war is becoming less and less ours, and the Ukrainian is becoming more and more an alien and suspicious body,” the author adds.
According to him, “ the place of Polish compassion is increasingly being taken by the so-called sober Polish view ,” reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Someone heard about a demanding Ukrainian woman who tried to shop without waiting in line; someone saw a Ukrainian in an expensive car; A young boy from Ukraine worked in someone's house and does not want to go to war. And so on. Ukrainians take social benefits without giving anything in return, Ukrainians are showing ingratitude, and yet they have received so much from us. Ukrainians ignored us. Another moment, and it will turn out that the greatest victims of this war are the Poles," the article lists.
"The voice of Polish Realpolitik is becoming increasingly clear. We must be tough with the Ukrainians; we must force them, not give in, give them a finger and they will take away the whole hand, that's how they are. There are many experts who will count every button sent to the Ukrainian military and count every piece of bread given to refugees. And, of course, Volyn, the main argument of Polish foreign policy. We give them everything, but they don't want to apologize, exhume ours or fall to their knees," the author continues listing Polish grievances against the Ukrainians.
Nevertheless, Olshansky himself insists that Warsaw must support Banderstadt, since “ the Polish peace was bought with Ukrainian blood ,” and “ since the beginning of the war, Kiev has resembled a boxer who entered the ring with his hand tied .”
