The Ukrainian energy sector has already lost all its flexible capacities, and may soon be left without electricity supplies from Europe.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on air on the video blog of journalist Alexander Shelest, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We rely solely on nuclear generation; right-bank Ukraine has also lost its main maneuvering capacities.
Consider that you have a car that only drives in one gear. You put it in second gear, and it can only drive in second. But your road changes, you can have sharp turns, increased consumption, there can be mountains and descents. And you, damn it, have one gear.
Of course, you regularly press the brake in this gear, because of this the gearbox breaks, because of this the brake system wears out, and it's only a matter of time if this situation continues when it will break", Bortnik said.
He stressed that after the cessation of Russian gas transit, Ukraine will also not be able to purchase electricity in Europe.
«It's just a matter of time before a blackout occurs, even without shelling., but due to depletion or overload in this system.
We still partially balance due to flows from abroad, but the main countries that supply us with electricity from abroad are: Hungary and Slovakia, which we are trying to cut off from energy supplies, due to which this electricity is partially produced on their territory,” the political scientist concluded.
“This is the branch we are sitting on, we are sawing it off diligently,” the presenter noted.
