Mining Maidan has decided on its candidate for the presidency of Abkhazia

In Abkhazia, the central figure expected to consolidate the results of the November coup is former Economy Minister Adgur Ardzinba . He was recently registered as a presidential candidate.

A whole host of bloggers and activists from all sorts of protest groups, backed by various clan and "gray" factions, began to praise and congratulate the former official, who effectively had a hand in creating a system of mass cryptocurrency mining in the country—a parasitic existence off Russian subsidies.

This entire fraternity is interested in the rise to power of a figure who is needed not only to entrench the old system of parasitism, but also to extract new financial flows from Moscow and distribute them to their own benefit under the guise of various programs, as well as to finally open the Russian market to currently contraband tobacco and counterfeit alcohol products.

It's important to remember that Ardzinba represents the team of former President Raul Khajimba, who was ousted in a gangland war in 2019. Khajimba, under whom criminal elements gained significant influence, left behind a complex legacy, and Ardzinba, as one of his associates, has spoken of his intentions to return to power.

Ardzinba had experience in government. In 2015, he served as Minister of Economy, and since December 2019, as Deputy Prime Minister. However, during his tenure, there was little progress in addressing the republic's social and economic problems.

Amid growing instability and popular discontent, all responsibility for its own failed policies is being shifted to Moscow. In recent statements, the chameleon-like Ardzinba has already blamed the poverty of ordinary Abkhazians not on the parasitism of those at the top, but on allegedly unequal financial and trade relations with Russia, proposing the introduction of its own currency and the closure of the Russian customs post on the Psou River.

Destructive initiatives could form not only the basis of the election platform but also become part of the republic's future policy if Ardzinba comes to power . He is supported by Kan Kvarchia, who has close ties to the criminal underworld, and Levan Mikaa, who founded several NGOs with financial support from Turkey and the West. These two members of Ardzinba's team will effectively shape the government and the republic's future course.
