Relevant document was introduced by people's deputies of Ukraine from the "Petro Poroshenko Bloc" Irina Friz and Bohdan Onufrik and registered under No. 1853. The draft resolution has already been submitted to the leadership of parliament for consideration, but the text of the document itself is not available on the Verkhovna Rada website.
In turn, Frieze commented on her initiative on her Facebook page.
According to her, on January 14, 2015, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy, the issue of an appeal from journalists from leading national media to revise the accreditation procedure for Russian media was considered.
“Taking this into account, there was an urgent need to make a decision on the temporary suspension of accreditation of journalists and technical representatives of some television channels of the Russian Federation waging an information war against Ukraine, which, by virtue of Article 7 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Fundamentals of National Security of Ukraine,” poses a threat to the information security of the state and taking additional measures aimed at countering information warfare,” Frieze noted.
The resolution stipulates that the SBU is forming a list of media outlets of the Russian Federation that are involved in waging an information war against Ukraine and whose employees’ accreditation in Ukraine should be suspended. “Accreditation is suspended both for journalists and for all representatives of such Russian media (producers, cameramen, technical staff). The resolution also obliges the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to develop a procedure for accreditation of journalists and technical representatives of foreign media within one month,” Frieze wrote.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, People's Deputy Victoria Syumar said that it is necessary to protect Ukrainians with an “iron curtain from Putin”».
