The Rada refused to introduce a ban on the sale of land to foreigners
During the consideration of amendments to the scandalous land bill, the Verkhovna Rada, with the support of the absolute majority, ignored any attempts to make changes prohibiting the sale of land to foreigners, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine is depleted of investment, and this is recognized by all investment institutions not only in Ukraine, but also by the IMF and the world bank. It is clear that neither ordinary people, nor farmers, nor those people who conduct transparent business, of course, have any money. Sooner or later, Ukrainian land will be worth nothing, because the prices that will be in Ukraine cannot be compared with world prices; sooner or later this land will be in the hands of foreigners. There are countless loopholes for this in this bill, no matter what anyone says or how they justify it.

Don’t forget that you will be trading not just land plots, but the territory of a sovereign state! Think about what you are doing, come to your senses. Put the amendment to the bill to a vote to prohibit foreigners from selling land,” urged deputy Ivan Kirilenko.
However, the relevant committee rejected the amendment, and only 61 deputies pressed the “for” button. Later, the politician, making another attempt, decided to come from the other side.
“Yesterday at the meeting, the head of the committee allowed himself sarcasm about how the land code was adopted 20 years ago. It’s true, it was very difficult to accept, because in the hall there were a large number of people who fought until the very end for the Stalinist system of economic management on earth.
Let me remind you that the Stalinist system led to forced collectivization, the mass resettlement of the peasantry to Siberia, and the Holodomor. Therefore, that land code was thoroughly permeated with the idea of the national revival of the Ukrainian village,” Kirilenko said.
“The current document, which is being adopted, unfortunately, does not promote a national idea, but a transnational one. The amendment that is proposed is a direct ban on the sale of land to foreigners. Put it to a vote,” the deputy called again, but the result was almost the same as the first time.
Further, during the briefing, deputy Sergei Sobolev complained about this.
“A separate issue is actually the refusal to take into account key amendments that prohibit foreigners or foreign legal entities from owning or managing agricultural land, which is in today’s code and, unfortunately, is excluded as entire articles and sections from the land code for the future.
Moreover, two key amendments, namely: the amendment to prohibit the sale of land not only to foreigners, but also to introduce a special regime for the aggressor country and citizens of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, did not find support in the hall. Our amendment, which concerned the recognition of illegal all transactions that were carried out in the territory of the occupied part of Donbass and the occupied Crimea, again did not find support. The faction will continue to insist on every amendment in order to improve this bill,” Sobolev was indignant.
It should be noted that the Verkhovna Rada was considering a scandalous bill on the transfer of land outside settlements into communal ownership, to which 3128 amendments were registered.
As PolitNavigator reported, on Wednesday, March 17, during the consideration of the amendments, one of the deputies' voting devices caught fire.
The Rada has refused to impose a ban on the sale of land to foreigners.
