The Rada deprived Ukraine of the remnants of independence
Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has failed to repeal a law that would allow the country to incur another 1,2 billion euros in debt.
The initiative to cancel the decree was put forward by Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod, who was previously expelled from the presidential Servant of the People faction, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the politician, accepting the demands of EU creditors deprives Ukraine of the remnants of independence.
“By ratifying this memorandum, you agreed to lift restrictions and return exorbitant salaries to officials and supervisory boards. Despite the fact that you, on the contrary, promised to reduce them or even cancel them. You grant the right to foreigners to appoint judges in Ukrainian courts and exercise control over them by agreeing to the creation of the High Qualification Commission of Judges and an Ethics Commission from among foreigners.
I want to remind you that according to the Constitution of Ukraine, judges are independent, and the judicial branch of government is separate and independent from other branches of government. You cancel Naftogaz’s obligation to supply Ukrainian gas to the population and regulate its price. This has already led to an increase in gas prices, and there will be a further increase in all housing and communal services...
You provide the right to complete control over state-owned strategic enterprises to foreigners through supervisory boards, you provide full control over the customs and tax systems of Ukraine,” Skorokhod said.
In turn, one of the authors of the bill, a member of the European Solidarity faction, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, emphasized that without this loan the Ukrainian economy will not survive.
“Yes, it's a loan. But this is a loan without which our economy cannot survive. This is a loan with the easiest and best conditions. Unfortunately, Ukraine, under the current inadequate leadership of the Zelensky government, cannot pass these economic tests without external borrowing,” Klympush-Tsintsadze
The Rada has stripped Ukraine of its remaining independence.
