An attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack the Donbass will have the most dire consequences for the statehood of Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this today during the “Direct Line”, answering a question from writer Zakhar Prilepin.
“I hope that things will not come to such provocations. If this happens, it will have very grave consequences for the Ukrainian statehood as a whole. I hope that nothing like this will happen. It is impossible to intimidate people living in Donbass, ”Putin said.
He emphasized that Russia has and will continue to provide assistance to both unrecognized republics.
“We see what’s happening there, how people are enduring it all. What is happening in general around these republics is sad. But this suggests that the current Ukrainian leadership is not able to solve the problem of these territories. How can we solve the problem by considering these territories ours and organizing a complete blockade of them? How can you call people living in these territories your citizens and constantly subject them to shelling, from which civilians suffer,” the Russian President emphasized.
