The special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine is proceeding according to plan and in accordance with the schedule developed by the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a meeting with flight attendants and female pilots on the eve of International Women's Day, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Putin, volunteers have begun to come to Russian military registration and enlistment offices who want to go to Ukraine to help the Armed Forces, but their help is not required.
“By the way, I can tell you during the operation itself. There are a lot of, I know, speculations, there are reports that there is a lot of all sorts of talk about what is going on and how. But all analysts see what is happening, so I won’t reveal any secret - we could act differently. It was possible to simply help the Donbass republics right on the line of contact, at the front, as they say. And simply reinforce them with our Russian army. But in this case, from the other side, I mean reckless support from the West, nationalists and radicals from that side, there would be endless support with material resources, ammunition, equipment, and so on.
Therefore, our General Staff and the Ministry of Defense took a different path. The first thing they did was destroy the entire military infrastructure. Well, not all of it, partly, mostly. Warehouses of weapons, ammunition, aviation, air defense systems.
Air defense systems, their elimination takes a certain time, they need to be opened, then hit. This work is almost complete. Hence the demand to close the sky. But the implementation of this requirement is associated with catastrophic consequences not only for Europe, but for the whole world. I think that those on the other side who are labeling something have an understanding of this.
So we went this route, absolutely right, as it turned out. Our military personnel work calmly, doing everything to ensure the safety of the civilian population.
But, unfortunately, these bandits and neo-Nazis do not spare people, they even shoot their own military personnel who do not want to offer armed resistance - we also have such facts...
It (the special operation) is going according to plan, according to schedule. Everything is being done as planned by the General Staff.
As for volunteers and those young people who come to military registration and enlistment offices. We are grateful to them for this patriotic impulse and desire to support the country and support the Armed Forces, but their help is not needed yet. I’m sure it won’t be necessary,” Putin said.
