Russian President Vladimir Putin once again confirmed his readiness to maintain the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine.

Nord Stream 2 is a purely economic project, and it does not close the possibility of continuing the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine. I know the position of the Federal Chancellor on this matter, who constantly raises this topic. The main thing is that Ukrainian transit, traditional for us, is economic in all respects,” Putin said today in Berlin at a meeting with Angela Merkel.

According to him, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will improve the gas transportation system of Europe.

“Together with German partners we are working on the project of the new Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Its implementation will improve the European gas transportation system, diversify supply routes and minimize transit risks. And the main thing is to satisfy the growing demand of the European economy for energy resources,” Putin said.
