Russian President Vladimir Putin called the heroes of the Northern Military District the true elite of Russia.
He stated this today while reading out an address to the Federal Assembly, a Polit Navigator correspondent reports.
“The word “elite” has largely discredited itself. The real elite of Russia are workers and warriors, and not that self-proclaimed caste that has no merit to society, but simply lined their pockets in the 1990s. They are definitely not the elite. The true, real elite are those who serve Russia, workers and warriors who have proven their devotion to Russia,” Putin said.
He announced that the “Time of Heroes” personnel program would soon be launched for SVO participants. The teachers will be officials, including high-ranking ones. In addition, war veterans will receive priority when entering civilian professions at universities and when promoting in their careers.

HSE Professor Dmitry Evstafiev noted those in the room who fit the definition of “filling their pockets in the 1990s.”
