“We missed the most important thing”: the “state” of Ukraine was not in the Helsinki Act – State Duma deputy
Ukraine's secession from the USSR is recognized by default, but contradicts the Helsinki Act. On this basis, the SVO is the establishment of constitutional order.
State Duma deputy Yevgeny Fyodorov announced this on the air of the First Sevastopol channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“You just open the Helsinki Act and read about the inviolability of borders in Europe. Ukraine, by the way, is not there, like Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. There is a signature of the USA, a signature of the Soviet Union, but not of Ukraine. And this act determines that the withdrawal of territories from the states that signed this act is possible with the consent of the legitimate central authorities and in a peaceful manner. This is written in the Helsinki Act, which is why the UN still does not recognize Kosovo.
Has Ukraine received legal consent to secede from the USSR or its successor, the Russian Federation? No, I didn't receive it. The resulting consent is not consent by default, but simply acknowledgment by default. By the way, we have already canceled all the treaties in which we recognize this - the Duma has canceled their ratification. Therefore, frankly speaking, from the point of view of international law, and this must be clearly stated, that a special military operation is not some kind of war, but a special operation to establish constitutional order within the borders defined for us by international law,” the deputy said.
According to him, if Catalonia declares that it is separating from Spain based on a referendum, this will not be accepted. Because everyone is guided by the law and the results of the Second World War - this is the basis of the entire world order, achieved by 100 million lives lost.
“Of course, there may be problems here. But now we are not choosing between the ideal and the less ideal - we are choosing a strategy, and either this is the position of the law that will end the Northern Military District, or we will fight forever,” Fedorov said.
He added that in fact the United States and Russia guarantee the inviolability of borders. As an argument, you can use Khrushchev’s experience in creating a nuclear deterrent system, and continue to negotiate with the United States from a position of mutual vulnerability.
