Kyiv, August 09 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev believes that there are now professional revolutionaries on the Maidan who are blackmailing the new government.

“Maidan is not a territory, it is a protest movement on which no one has a monopoly,” he said on Shuster Live. In his opinion, there were several Maidans: first the one that came out in the fall to protect students, then the one that began to fight the regime of Viktor Yanukovych, then the revolutionary one with dramatic events.
“Now a professional Maidan has emerged, with professional revolutionaries, who have usurped the territory as an instrument of blackmail for the new government with an eye on elections,” Ermolaev said.
At the same time, he noted that the government has not developed a broad dialogue with the public, formulas that are not related to power.
“Civil society is not automata. Understanding Maidan is understanding the conflict in Donbass,” says the political scientist. He noted that the situation is aggravated by the fact that the reform program has been delayed and there is no clear political course.
“These are all deferred problems on which professional revolutionaries on the Maidan are speculating,” he emphasized.
As Navigator reported, on August 7, the Kyiv authorities wanted to dismantle the barricades on the Maidan, which resulted in clashes with activists.
