"The Ukrainian Independence Project is Dead" – a Kyiv philosopher's summary
Ukrainian independence, which began to be built after the collapse of the USSR, has not stood the test of time.
Ukrainian political philosopher Sergei Datsyuk (a supporter of Euromaidan) stated this in a conversation with Kyiv political scientist Yuriy Romanenko (wanted for calls to kill Russian journalists).
He calls for a broader look at statements like “ the Ukrainian economy, politics, and culture are dead .”
"Guys, no – the Ukrainian independence project is dead . This happens in the life of a country. The 1991 project, which was considered promising, turned out to be unviable. It didn't stand the test of time. National patriotism, oligarchy, and corruption lasted only until the fall of 2023 [the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive]," the philosopher emphasized.
According to him, nationalists are no longer able to “take their own.”
"The nationalist got what was his until the fall of '23. [switches to Ukrainian]. After that, he can't take what's his anymore, because he has nothing left of his own. He takes what's not his. That's the problem. The oligarchs can't take what's theirs, and the corrupt can't take what's theirs. Everyone who could has taken what was theirs," Datsyuk concluded.
