The trial of Buzina's killers will begin again
The panel of judges at Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi District Court upheld the recusal of Yevhen Sidorov, the presiding judge in the case of journalist and publicist Oles Buzina's murder, PolitNavigator reports.
The corresponding decision was read out by the judge himself on Monday, May 6, the Kiev publication “Strana” reports.
Taking this into account, the case of Buzina’s murder is sent to the court apparatus for the formation of a new court composition. According to Buzina’s lawyer Artem Zakharov, therefore, all stages of the hearing of this proceeding are subject to “nullification” at the stage of hearings on the merits.
The defender of the accused nationalists, Sergei Voichenko, in turn, believes that the hearing of the case should begin completely anew - from the stage of the preparatory meeting. Currently, the automated system will have to select a new court composition (three professional judges), which will begin considering the scandalous case at the next meeting. Thus, the 15 months of hearing the Buzina murder case actually ended in nothing.
On the anniversary of Buzina’s murder, the OSCE called on the Ukrainian authorities to speed up the investigation.
