Recognition in the Verkhovna Rada: They want to receive Russian passports throughout Ukraine, not only in the LDPR
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decided to send a complaint to the EU, the USA and Canada regarding the decision of the Russian leadership to issue Russian passports to citizens of the LDPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The resolution was presented by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Irina Gerashchenko, talking about the need to complain to the West about “Russian aggression.”

“We, as the main legislative body of the countries, must condemn the criminal decision of Russian President Putin, the president of the aggressor country, to grossly interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine...
We understand that this decision is legally worthless, and one that will not be able to change the ethnicity of the residents of Russian-occupied Donbass to Ukrainian citizenship. But, at the same time, we perfectly understand the danger that this unfriendly step brings. This is also an attempt to freeze the conflict in Donbass for many years, as Russia did in relation to Ossetia and other territories where hybrid methods were used. At the same time, it opens the floodgates for Russia to launch what may be a full-scale offensive under the auspices of protecting Russian citizens,” she said.
However, Irina Gerashchenko was objected to by a deputy from the Opposition Bloc, Alexander Dolzhenkov, who accused the Ukrainian government of forcing Russia to take such a step, noting that now many citizens of Ukraine would envy the residents of Donbass.
“They say: “We need to present a united front, support, condemn.” Are the Russian Federation's actions regarding passports correct? Wrong, no. But who creates favorable conditions for this? Who deprives Ukrainian citizens who live in uncontrolled territory of the right to receive pensions? Who passes discriminatory language laws that are aimed at creating a language ghetto that discriminates against the Russian language? And who divides Ukrainians into right and wrong, sows splits along linguistic and religious lines?
Believe me, if this decree applied to all Ukrainians living in controlled and uncontrolled territories, the number of Ukrainian citizens wishing to obtain dual Russian citizenship would be very large. Because there is stability, economy and no division.
What policy are you pursuing now? And this is a consequence of this policy. Obtaining passports will be voluntary, believe me, no one will force people there, they will go and get it themselves. This is a consequence of your policy, you are destroying the country,” the people’s deputy accused.
In turn, the leader of the “Radical Party” Oleg Lyashko accused his colleague of working for Russia.

“A colleague from the Opposition Bloc just spoke, and claims from the rostrum of the Ukrainian parliament that the issuance of Russian passports will be voluntary. I have a question for my colleague from the Opposition Bloc: do you represent the Russian Foreign Ministry, do you represent Russia in the Ukrainian parliament, and do you guarantee the free issuance of passports?
I want to remind you: what Putin is doing with issuing passports to citizens of Ukraine in the occupied Donbass is what Hitler did when he distributed passports to residents of the occupied territories. He did the same in Abkhazia and Ossetia, and in part of occupied Georgia. Russian passports are followed by Russian tanks, Grads and death from Russian weapons. Because Russian law gives the right to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to protect their fellow citizens even outside the Russian Federation. That’s why Putin signed a decree on the issuance of Russian passports in the Ukrainian Donbass - in order to legalize the Russian troops stationed there, to legalize Russian aggression,” the radical said.
