Pridnestrovian deputy: Russia has only two friends – Belarus and us
Relations between Russia and Transnistria will not change under external pressure.
This was stated by Andrei Safonov, a member of the PMR parliament, in an interview with the First Pridnestrovian TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Pridnestrovie proceeds from the need to maintain a de facto union with Russia and integration into the Eurasian community. And finally, they don’t rush their allies. Russia has only two friends in the former Soviet Union along the European border perimeter: Belarus and us,” Safonov said.
He is convinced that Pridnestrovie remains at the top of the geopolitical agenda.
“The southwest of the former USSR is the region for which the struggle has been waged since 1989, and is still being fought to this day by different countries in different forms. We try not to get involved anywhere, we remain neutral in the good sense of the word, we are ready to be friends with everyone and develop mutually beneficial relationships, but at the same time we protect our interests. This is to ensure free foreign economic activity.
Transnistria also wants to pursue an independent foreign policy, since it is focused on Eurasian integration. This is more profitable for us because it helps maintain production. Therefore, we are not only observers around us, but also active players,” Safonov said.
