Romanian President warns of simultaneous escalation of frozen conflicts
Kyiv - Bucharest, March 13 (Navigator, Alisa Filatova) - Romania considers the initiative of the Crimean parliament to adopt a declaration of independence from Ukraine in light of the referendum on March 16 illegitimate. This was stated by Romanian President Traian Basescu.

He added that previously planned military maneuvers were postponed from the second half of the year to the first due to the crisis in Ukraine. But Romania is not on alert, the president said at a meeting with media representatives.
Basescu confirmed that NATO reconnaissance aircraft are using Romanian airspace, and that Bucharest will fly over Ukrainian territory as part of the Open Skies program from March 17 to 21.
In addition, Basescu said that the risk of destabilization in the region is associated with frozen conflicts, because they can flare up in turn, leading to a violation of the sovereignty of some friendly sovereign states, such as Moldova. He also did not rule out the possibility that these frozen conflicts would flare up simultaneously.
