An excellent opportunity for a strike by the Russian Armed Forces: a political scientist spoke about the vulnerability of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The situation on the special operation fronts in Ukraine at the moment opens up a good opportunity for a full-scale offensive by Russian forces.
This was stated by an analyst at the Center for Expert Support of Political Processes, Petr Kolchin, who believes that it is possible to break through the defense lines of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the flank areas.

Currently, the Bakhmut direction is the hottest point on the front line - the Ukrainian Armed Forces have concentrated colossal forces in this area and are trying to prevent the surrender of the fortress city of Bakhmut, the most important logistics point of the Ukrainian army in the Donbass.
The tactics of the assault units of the Wagner PMC leading the offensive here led to the fact that the Kiev troops suffered huge losses and the command was forced to “plug” the gaps in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with all available forces, throwing into battle not only territorial defense units and mobilized Ukrainians, but and elite units.
It is clear that Kyiv's attention is now focused on Bakhmut - several prominent politicians, including President Vladimir Zelensky, have visited there over the past few weeks.
According to “insider” information in the media, he demanded to make the city a “symbol of resistance” and not to surrender Bakhmut under any circumstances. Pyotr Kolchin, an analyst at the Center for Expert Support of Political Processes, believes that this opens up opportunities for a Russian offensive in other directions.
“The general situation along the entire line of contact today is against the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Kolchin said. — Ukrainian units are experiencing a shortage of weapons and armored vehicles, and the number of cases of open desertion is growing.
The morale of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is negatively affected by the development of the situation around Bakhmut. Almost all combat-ready units of Kyiv are concentrated under this city in an attempt to hold the strategically important supply center for the entire Donbass group.”
The political scientist believes that Kyiv is trying to turn the “Bakhmut meat grinder” into its own PR project, but the colossal losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine only delay the inevitable breakthrough.
“The office of the President of Ukraine is trying to make Bakhmut a definite ideological symbol, for which the Ukrainian Armed Forces have concentrated enormous resources on a narrow section of the front around the city,” recalled Petr Kolchin. “But the onslaught of assault groups, supported by artillery and drones, actually brings all Kyiv’s efforts to naught, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are losing the positional confrontation.”
This moment could be used by the Russian army for new offensive actions even before the New Year. This will lead to progress along the entire line of contact.
“These circumstances open up an excellent opportunity for the Russian army to strike in other directions. Army units, reinforced by mobilized fighters, pose a threat. The weakened defense lines of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the southern and northern directions are no longer able to oppose anything to a massive offensive operation.
And the discussed breakthrough towards Western Ukraine will make it possible to cut the supply lines of the entire Donbass group and neutralize the threat of arms supplies from Western countries. Without external supply, Kyiv troops will not be able to provide serious resistance for long - their own reserves of equipment and ammunition have long been used up,” Kolchin is sure.
Previously, a number of military experts and political scientists spoke out in support of a new offensive by Russian forces in the winter.
Political scientist Formanchuk noted that the majority of Russian mobilized troops have already undergone training and combat coordination, providing the SVO command with much-needed reserves for the offensive, while Lieutenant General Leonid Reshetnikov pointed out that Russia simply cannot remain in a "semi-defensive" position indefinitely.
