Russian bases in Syria are blocked, claims former assistant to the State Duma speaker Anastasia Kashevarova in her blog.
"Khmeimim is surrounded by militants (which the Russian Foreign Ministry has begun to call the opposition) - militants are at the checkpoint and on duty inside the base. Plus, at some bases there are periodic attempts at provocations and shelling. Tartus has been abandoned, ships with military personnel are in the coastal zone. The preliminary agreement on the presence of our contingent is 75 days. After that - withdrawal," Kashevarova asserts.
"Judging by the satellite photos that have been circulating in the Western segment of the Internet since yesterday evening, Russian ships and vessels have left Tartus - but are standing nearby. Which may be connected with the information published by the Washington Post - according to the newspaper, the Kiev regime has provided the Islamists with drones and specialists for them," notes observer Yuriy Baranchik.
Political scientist Pavel Danilin, who is close to the United Russia party, claims that the fate of the bases has not yet been finally determined.
“Some negotiations are underway, and, as I understand it, they concern the fate of Tartus and Khmeimim, as well as projects in Palmyra, geological exploration, production, construction and representative institutions.”
