US Embassy: Chechen militants are pouring into Donbass from Russia

Kyiv, June 01 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Chechen fighters continue to be poured into the eastern regions of Ukraine from Russian territory, said US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt.

“We certainly welcome the withdrawal of troops to the extent that this is actually happening, but we remain very concerned about many other aspects of the destabilizing activities that exist. Including the presence of foreign fighters in the Donbass, who absolutely certainly came from Russia, and evidence that a significant amount of military equipment and weapons continues to flow across the border,” he said in an interview with the Zerkalo Nedeli newspaper.

“I think it is very difficult for the Russian side to deny this when Chechen fighters in eastern Ukraine are giving interviews in their hotel rooms,” the American diplomat added.
