“Ports are idle, goods are becoming more expensive” - a Ukrainian politician about “successes” in the Sea of Azov
During the martial law imposed by Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainian security forces did nothing to “unblock” Ukrainian shipping in the Sea of Azov, as a result of which the ports continue to suffer losses.
Roman Semenukha, a member of the Samopomich faction, stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The task of unblocking the Azov Sea is key. As of mid-December, the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk were operating in a 4-day mode. This affects the economy. Any hour of downtime of a Ukrainian ship or a ship under a foreign flag with Ukrainian products certainly increases the cost of our products, which affects our economy. Therefore, I think that the task of unblocking the Sea of Azov is key.
I would really like to hear what the security agencies did during martial law, when they had all the powers. Although I believe that they had enough powers even without martial law,” he said.
As a reminder, Mariupol Port Director Oleksandr Oleynik previously stated that due to Russia's tightened inspections of ships in the Sea of Azov, the state-owned enterprise has suffered losses of 500 million hryvnia in recent months.
