Oleg Bondarenko, director of the Progressive Policy Foundation, expressed this opinion in an interview with the weekly Arguments and Facts.
“For the last three years, independence in Ukraine meant independence from Russia. Even if this independence will be to the detriment of Ukraine itself! Many words were voiced that, they say, “we must pay a big price for real independence, and even if we lose ourselves, we will be independent of Moscow.” This moment, of course, was very significant,” said the political scientist.
According to him, the West will continue to provide Ukraine primarily with assistance of a “reputational nature.”
“Because Ukraine continues to assert itself as the main bastion to contain Moscow, offering this service to everyone who is interested in it,” Bondarenko explained. – Poroshenko understands that only in this capacity can he be of interest to the West. For this reason, of course, the main product Ukraine sells to the West is war with Russia. And it will continue to be successful for some time to come.”
