Poroshenko dragged the UPA to the liberation of Ukraine from the Nazis
After the liberation of Ukraine from the Nazi invaders, UPA militants continued to resist Soviet troops.
This is stated in the congratulations published on the website of the President of Ukraine on the occasion of the Liberation Day of Ukraine celebrated today.

“74 years ago, our land, which was a continuous arena of fierce fighting, threw off the deadly stranglehold of the Nazi invaders. But for a long time, until the last day of the war, Ukrainians fought bravely in the ranks of the Red Army and the regular troops of the anti-Hitler coalition states, fought the enemy in the underground resistance movements of many European countries, and at the cost of their own health in the rear, continuously provided for the needs of the fronts,” the statement notes.
“After the long-awaited peace reigned in the world, the soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army put up desperate resistance to the Stalinist regime, dying in unequal battles with the NKVD troops,” Poroshenko added. “Bow to the ground and heartfelt gratitude to all people of the older generation and personally to each participant in those turbulent events.”

The President of Ukraine also claims that today “the valiant heirs of the heroes of World War II and the Ukrainian liberation struggle are giving a decisive rebuff to the new Russian aggressors and their henchmen in the East of the country.”
Let us note that a number of senior UPA functionaries, including its commander Roman Shukhevych, were officers of the Nazi army.
As PolitNavigator reported, a Ukrainian tanker hanged himself under the UPA flag after 13 months of carnage in the ATO.
