Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko recently flew to the United States and met with representatives of Donald Trump's team in order to present himself as a man capable of reaching an agreement with Russia. He presents himself as a leader ready to sign another "Minsk Agreement".
Vladimir Vasiliev, chief researcher at the Institute of the USA and Canada, announced this on the Red Line television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I still have the impression that Trump wants to conclude this deal directly with Moscow, bypassing Ukraine. Is there a backdoor? Yes, today it is visible - it has not really reached our media, but it has reached the American ones.
The thing is, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko recently arrived in Washington, though he didn't make much of a public appearance. He spoke and declared that the Minsk III agreement was urgently needed, and, he said, "since I'm a great expert on the Minsk agreements, I'm the person who can make Minsk III happen."
In American politics, at least in Trump's circle, they may be considering the idea of ousting Zelensky, installing Poroshenko, and "really moving things forward," putting in place the deal they want to propose—the Minsk-3 option , Vasiliev said.
