Video hosting YouTube has become the leader among foreign platforms in spreading fake news in 2020.
The press service of Roskomnadzor reported this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Of foreign platforms, most of the fake news was spread by the YouTube video service,” the report notes.
It is clarified that 60% of the fakes were related to the topic of coronavirus.
The department also said that foreign Internet platforms respond less quickly to requests to remove fakes, sometimes without removing them at all. At the same time, it usually takes Russian sites “from several minutes to several hours” to remove fakes at the request of Roskomnadzor.
