How many Russian women will be celebrating the holiday at war today? The figure is well-known: 1,100 of those who wear camouflage more often than dresses and high heels are serving in the Special Operations Zone.
This is official data from the Russian Ministry of Defense. In fact, there are many more women in war. If you asked me how many, I would answer - hundreds of thousands of mothers, wives of sisters in Donbass have been living with this war, this special operation for almost 9 years.
Thousands of them died against their will. And today we remember all the women killed by Ukrainian mines and shells. We commemorate them as holy martyrs. And those who were wounded and maimed – too. We commemorate those whose beauty, tenderness, care, and love, whose thread of life was struck by a jagged black shrapnel.
And yet spring takes its toll. And thousands of women of Donbass, Crimea, the Dnieper region, Tavria today immerse their faces in modest bouquets of mimosa and tulips, sigh, smile, and go to do what a woman is used to doing - care, feed, wash, teach, empathize, love.
The usual female lot is love. And no war will humiliate or kill her.
What do we know about women in war today? And that the war will end. Scars will heal in hearts and fields. Our mothers, wives. sisters and daughters will take off their tired camouflage, put on colorful dresses, take out their high-heeled shoes, and invite our entire Russian world to the white dance.
