The director of the Kyiv Center for Political Studies and Conflict Studies, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Moscow plays some unique role in the political history of recent decades. I mean Putin’s strange friendship with Netanyahu and at the same time with Iran, which I personally don’t understand. I talked to my friends from Israel who are very happy about the termination of the deal with Iran and do not understand at all why Netanyahu went to Moscow. Putin gave him a portrait of some Jew, and he carried this portrait, not a relative, on the “Immortal Regiment.” Over time, maybe we will find out the details, but all this is extremely interesting and not entirely clear,” said the political scientist.
According to him, there was no ultimatum to Israel from the Russian Federation regarding strikes on Syrian territory.
“It is clear that Israeli planes and missiles are flying in Syria, because the Russians are not against it. I think that the Russians are generally against Iran’s too large role in Syria, but they also cannot refuse their alliance,” the expert suggested. – The guards of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranians, are fighting in the field, not Russian soldiers. But the matter did not end there. In addition, Iran is an uncompromising enemy of the enemy, it is clear which one. It’s a tough game and we’ll continue to watch it with interest.”
