“We are the ones who carried thieves and scoundrels on our shoulders” – a Kiev poet threw a poetic “bomb” into the Maidan

The famous Ukrainian Russian poet, Kiev resident Alexander Kabanov described in poetic form the disappointment from the results of the “revolution of dignity,” which three years ago captivated wide sections of the Kiev Russian-speaking intelligentsia and was enthusiastically received by Kabanov himself.

Kabanov posted his new poem 10 hours ago on his own page on the social network. During this time, the text received almost a thousand likes and 179 reposts from Facebook users.

Why can't you finally admit:

we are the romantics, children of living fathers,
turned into a sect of witnesses of the dead.

Whoever goes against us, let the earth bury him,

And it doesn’t matter now what we promised you -
truth sticks to money, but truth only sticks to words,

It was God who melted our watches into cauldrons.

Whoever goes against us will regret it now, later -
Is it so important who flashes a cross in the Donetsk steppe,
does it really matter who believes in good revenge:
give us this day our daily sword.

I forgive you, blind fools, creators
new history, costumed eunuchs,
those who poisoned and are accustomed to poisoning today -

In Kabanov’s comments, some users called this poem an “asymmetrical” response from a well-known and iconic poet for modern Ukrainian Russian culture to those Ukrainian nationalists who recently launched a persecution of Kabanov on social networks and in the media for his statement against the renaming of one of the Kyiv avenues to Bandera Avenue . Then the poet wrote that he never gets off at a “banderized” transport stop and prefers to walk.

“I don’t drive along Bandera Avenue as a matter of principle. I ask the driver to stop, then continue on foot, my godfather works in Petrovka Center. Well, there is a book market there. Disgusting. If there were Lobanovsky or Sikorsky Avenue - no problem. And so... the smell of blood. I'm squeamish. And don't, don't tell me anything. This is your hero, not mine. There was a shop there called “Live Crayfish”. The crayfish are poisoned there now. Dead. And then the driver picks me up. On neutral territory,” Kabanov wrote then.

For this post, he was persecuted by many of those whom he previously considered like-minded people. Now these people, who have repainted themselves as Ukrainian nationalists, have declared him almost an “enemy of the people.” As a result, Kabanov had to delete his post, which so excited Bandera’s fans.

The persecution of Kabanov on social networks became so widespread that even the pro-Maidan Dnepropetrovsk writer and ATO propagandist Yan Valetov was forced to stand up for him.

“As I understand it, it’s easy and pleasant to poison the harmless Kabanov? Sasha is a poet, he feels one way today, another tomorrow. Poets and writers, if they are not blockheads like me, are creatures from the “subtle world”. Kabanov loves Ukraine. Kabanov is one of those who makes up her glory, whether anyone likes it or not,” Valetov wrote then.
