Thousands of mentally ill “Kazan shooters” are roaming around Ukraine with weapons – expert
In Ukraine, flooded with illegal weapons, the chances of repeating crimes similar to what happened in Kazan are extremely high. Moreover, if you consider that the Ukrainian system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs worked with such violations, when mentally unstable people received weapons permits.
This was stated at a press conference in Kiev by the former head of the Kiev district police department, legal expert Denis Yaroslavsky, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today, in Ukraine we have much more shadow weapons trafficking than in Russia. It's much easier to get. And in the same way, our psychopath can take this firearm anywhere, go in and carry out a massacre,” the expert said.
Denis Yaroslavsky cited as an example a recent journalistic investigation, as a result of which “systemic violations were revealed so large, ranging from issuing certificates to the mentally unstable, ending with issuing weapons permits to people who did not even know where the licensing department was located.”
“All this was hidden. Yes, this is systemic corruption, yes, it exists, yes, it allows psychopaths to get even the same hunting rifles. It is necessary to restore order within the government agency that issues such permits,” the expert said.
Back in 2018, the then-chief military prosecutor Anatoly Matios stated that train cars with illegal weapons, estimated in tons, were “walking” around Ukraine. “Dozens of tons of explosives, hundreds of mines, hundreds of grenade launchers. And this is not a car, not a box - these are wagons of weapons that walk around the state,” said Matios.
Ukraine, under the conditions of the ATO, was literally flooded with illegal weapons, confirmed Sergei Shabovta, president of the Ukrainian Association of Security Professionals. “According to our estimates, there are from 1,5 to 2 million small arms in Ukraine alone. Trauma weapons - they tell us about 100 thousand, but we confidently say that there will be 300 thousand guns. Do Ukrainians have any idea how many award-winning weapons there are? According to our estimates, 50 thousand trunks,” the expert said.
