Bad news for the Ukrainian authorities
The massive participation of Ukrainians in the celebration of Victory Day on May 9 showed that the results of the upcoming elections in the country next year will be unfavorable for the current government.
Russian political scientist Oleg Matveychev told PolitNavigator about this.
“I think that some part of the people, understanding what the authorities need, will vote for anyone but Poroshenko. The votes can go to almost any party,” Matveychev said.
He explains the fact that opinion polls do not yet show an increase in protest relations for two reasons.
“In the situation of terror that is unfolding in Ukraine, people are simply afraid to answer questions that come from no one knows who. And then in the political spectrum of Ukraine there is not a single purely pro-Russian party. There are complaints against all political forces, many of them are questionable, many of them are collaborationists with the junta. People may not trust them,” the political scientist noted.
He believes that going to the Immortal Regiment is a legal way for Ukrainians to express protest in a non-political way.
“We’re just remembering our grandfathers and great-grandfathers – that’s okay,” added Matveychev.
