The creation of enemy bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region could have been avoided if the response to the threat of their creation had been timely. But information from military officers is received one-sidedly - either everything is fine with us, or you are traitors.
This opinion was expressed to ForPost by Andrei Rodionov, a military correspondent and serviceman in the information and political department of the Yenisei volunteer corps, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“When I last visited the paratroopers on the Kherson front, I witnessed how they actively fought for the islands. At that time there were no bridgeheads, there was only one under the Antonovsky Bridge. Already now we can say that they simply overslept it, it might not have been there, but it did not make a difference, it was extinguished normally. There was no one in the Cossack camps at the time the unit was transferred to Rabotino.
They were replaced by another regiment, Samara’s Mobiks. They had everything - new Patriot cars, guns. I saw these people, unfortunately, many of them, as commanders, did not have the same motivation as volunteers, or the core of regular military personnel,” he noted.
The military correspondent added that the mobilized servicemen were generally far from the war, and were simply dragging their feet because “the Motherland called,” without deep internal motivation and experience.
“I stood nearby and saw it all. And then it became clear to me, and it became clear to the paratroopers, that the situation there would be bad. Because they have absolutely no “eyes” - no “birds”, no thermal imagers, nothing.
And even if it were, there is no understanding of how it works, they still don’t know how to use it. But in fact, the whole war there was a small group. The patrol stood at the water's edge and struck at the boats as they moved. The enemy could not land, everything was clear, competent, without losses. When I saw this, it became clear that the situation would be bad. And it also became clear to the commanders. Well, the guys can’t be responsible for everyone, they were sorry that they were leaving now, and the situation would be lost.
And then I wrote a neat text about this, that there is such a threat, bridgeheads will be created in the near future. And damn it, for some reason no one reacted,” Rodionov emphasized.
He assured that he informed “everyone who needed” about the situation; everyone confirmed its importance, but in fact nothing had changed. As a result, bridgeheads appeared on the left bank.
“If I talked about this, everyone understood it, supported it, checked it for sure, then why weren’t measures taken? I was just there as a civilian. This is one of the tasks of a military correspondent - to see and report in time, without stirring up any kind of panic; it is not needed. You need to make decisions carefully and on time. In war, you can make a mistake, but you shouldn’t be afraid to admit it, change it, and take timely action,” says the military correspondent.
“We don’t officially have military officers. They put a spoke in their wheels; if they tell the truth somewhere, they immediately become traitors, although these are real people. In general, military correspondents are divided into two camps: those who are paid extra somewhere to say how wonderful everything is, and independent ones who are offended by the state, and they try to carefully tell the truth, convey it, and take responsibility.
It is also clear that this is a responsibility, and they may also be asked for this. And in fact it turns out that now they understand this, but do not react. And what could have been prevented, specifically the bridgeheads on the Left Bank of the Dnieper, time was lost, and we have what we have,” Rodionov concluded.
