The head of the State Agency of Ukraine for Film Affairs, Philipp Illenko, spoke about this in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“The amount included in the budget for 2017 is 500 million hryvnia. This is an absolute record, both in hryvnia equivalent and in any other currency. The state has not yet allocated such an amount to support its own cinema,” he said.
The head of Goskino also noted that in January there will be at least one premiere of a Ukrainian film.
“It was created without government support. And this, by the way, is also a new phenomenon for Ukraine, when they begin to regularly create films, regardless of the state,” the official added.
