Re-elections of the “parliament” of Kosovo will not change the configuration of forces
The dissolution of the “parliament” of the unrecognized republic of Kosovo will not in any way affect Serbia’s position in the region. Political scientist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.
“The dissolution of the Kosovo parliament will in no way change the overall configuration, because it does not depend on the activities of Kosovo politicians. It depends primarily on the position of this collective West on the Kosovo issue. From this point of view, the Kosovars are puppets. What they were told, they will do. Therefore, one should not have much hope here,” Gasparyan said.
In his opinion, one should not expect a strengthening of the positions of Serbian politicians in Kosovo.
“As for Serbian politicians inside Kosovo, they are under completely unprecedented political pressure. And even the total mobilization of their electorate will not be able to change the overall configuration, but perhaps it will become a noticeable phenomenon for the West. Although this is a highly debatable issue,” Gasparyan said.
The “Parliament” of self-proclaimed Kosovo voted on Thursday to dissolve itself and hold early elections. The corresponding decision was supported by 89 out of 106 deputies present (only two parliamentarians were against). The “parliament” made the decision to dissolve itself after the recent resignation of “Prime Minister” Ramush Haradinaj due to his summons as an accused to the Special Tribunal in The Hague, which examines war crimes.
