"Our claim has been accepted and registered. The defendant is Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who approved by decree a decision of the National Security and Defense Council that is contrary to the law," said the plaintiff's lawyer, Tatyana Volkova, as quoted by Ukrainian News.

According to Volkova, she protects the interests of Donetsk resident Vladimir Steschenko, born in 1942, who previously received a disability pension.

In his lawsuit, he demands that the court invalidate and annul Presidential Decree No. 875, which implements the National Security and Defense Council's decision . She also emphasized that similar lawsuits could be filed by many socially vulnerable residents of Donetsk, who have been left without funds due to the cessation of well-deserved pensions and social benefits.

According to Volkova, such claims have a chance of being accepted by the court.

“The Constitution of Ukraine guarantees equal rights to all its citizens. And this Decree introduces a distinction between citizens of Ukraine on a territorial basis,” the lawyer said.

Volkova also reported on a similar lawsuit filed in the District Administrative Court of Kyiv by Donetsk resident Nina Ivanova against the Cabinet of Ministers. In this case, the plaintiff demands that Cabinet Resolution No. 575, regulating the termination of payments in the ATO zone, be canceled as illegal.

As PolitNavigator reported, all payment terminals in Donetsk were shut down today, meaning people can't even buy groceries with their remaining savings.

As a reminder, earlier reports emerged that communist Spiridon Klinkarov and Luhansk pensioner Felix Ivanov had challenged Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's decree terminating bank account services for Donbas residents in the Supreme Administrative Court.
