President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, when he was part of the comic group “95th Quarter,” “simply destroyed political figures without any basic culture,” and now, having found himself in politics, he himself complains about unflattering comments.
Ex-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, European Solidarity deputy Andrei Parubiy spoke about this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Your relationship with Vladimir Zelensky’s team developed long before he came to power, because Kvartal 95 often made offensive, unfunny jokes, and tried to parody you. Why did Zelensky’s team treat and treat you with such prejudice?” – asked the TV presenter.
“I think because we are very different from them. Mentally different. We recalled that their parodies were against decommunization, the Ukrainian-majority Ukraine in their parodies was always a Hutsul in sleeveless vests, a little wild and not completely adequate. I won’t even quote their jokes about Ukraine. It was foreign to them, and I fear that for many of them it remains foreign today.
This, you know, post-Soviet syndrome, to see Ukraine not as Ukrainian, but simply as a geographical part - it seems to me that for them this remains such a worldview. For them, the national aspect is something strange and incomprehensible. I mean, for many leaders of the “quarter,” said the deputy.
“When the head of the Office, Bogdan, writes today, how painful it is for Zelensky when he reads negative comments to himself on Facebook. I think, my God, for five years, without any basic culture, you simply destroyed political figures.
I remember Yulia Tymoshenko was behind bars, how she was ridiculed in the “quarter”. I remember how they ridiculed Yatsenyuk in the “quarter” during the most difficult period, how they ridiculed the Maidanists. And when they say today that it’s unpleasant for him to read comments on Facebook, I want to say: did you think about those people who were behind bars, and you made fun of them?
I told him once: don’t touch your family, why are you making fun of my family members? You want to achieve smiles and likes, you want to gain some kind of supposed popularity by destroying institutions of power, destroying the family - the basis of institutions during the war, in the most difficult times. time? I don't think they will understand that. He told me in response: I didn’t think it was offensive to you,” Parubiy said.
